What they do
The Sports Leaders work hard on creating an active school ethos.
Their primary aims are:
- To engage pupils of all ages in regular physical activity
- To ensure playtimes and lunchtimes are fun and active for all
- To encourage others to take part in physical activities
March 2019
Sports leaders enjoyed the visit from Tracey from Hoop Starz on Friday afternoon. They were introduced to a number of playground games enabling them to encourage other children to be active at play times and lunch times. The games included Clockwise, Ding Dong Ditch and French skipping. The games are centered around equipment we have in school.
Sports Leaders work on promoting sporting activity in school. They will learn and practise how to set up sporting activities in the playground at playtime’s and lunchtimes. They will be involved in taking part in recruiting pupils to take part in festivals. they will take responsibility for the sport and PE equipment in the school.
We have tidied up all of the P.E. and play equipment while also buying new equipment. We now have a timetable for Key Stage 1 and 2 as well as our Skip2Bfit challenge every morning. The Sports Leaders have recently completed their training, delivered by Lisa from the Youth Sports Trust. There are some photos of this below. It’s an exciting time ahead as we plan on helping and supporting children in school play games, sports and activities with each other.
