Last Thursday night, Class 3 went all the way to Lanchester on the mini-bus. We went to one of the only Greek restaurants in County Durham- Yannis. As soon as we arrived, everyone noticed the classic geometric Greek pattern on the windows and doors similar to the patterns we had decorated our paper mache Greek vases with in art. As we walked in we remembered to say ‘Yassou’ (‘Hello’ in Greek) and when we had our seats and drinks we all said ‘Efharistó’ (thank you).
While we were waiting for our dinner, we went to have a look at the open kitchen. We could see pitta breads warming, vegetables being chopped and smoky chicken cooking on the charcoal grill.
Our waiter, George, brought out delicious garlic bread followed by lots and lots of pizzas but we also tried the Greek-cooked chicken, pork and lamb as well as the creamy tzatziki. YUM!
