St Andrew’s’ Primary School is a local authority school, situated on the edge of the bypass to the south of the town centre of Bishop Auckland in the North West of County Durham. Children are happy to come to school and are well cared for in safe and secure surroundings.
The school is quite a modern building; opened in 1972. The school was originally known as Henknowle Primary School, named after the area in which it is situated – Henknowle, South Church. In 2000 the school changed its name to St Andrew’s in keeping with the road on which it is situated and the local, nearby church.
Our school is a very busy place. We provide a varied programme of activities and events to support the teaching of the broad curriculum we offer and to support the learning of each individual child.
